Seven U.S. dairy farmers on a U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) mission this week are seeing how long-range investments into important markets like Southeast Asia increase demand for nutritious U.S. dairy products.

On June 3, seven U.S. dairy farmers arrived in Singapore to begin a full week of activities, including meetings with Southeast Asian consumers, meetings with U.S. dairy companies that have offices in Singapore, supermarket visits and an up-close look at the U.S. Center for Dairy Excellence, which serves as a state-of-the-art innovation center and gathering place for U.S. dairy suppliers and SE Asian food and beverage stakeholders.

The seven U.S. dairy farmers are: Kate Fogler (Maine), Skip Hardie (New York), Charles Krause (Minnesota), Becky Nyman (California), USDEC Chair Larry Hancock (Texas), USDEC Vice Chair Alex Peterson (Missouri) and Dairy Management Inc. Chair Marilyn Hershey (Pennsylvania).

Over the years, these types of missions have given U.S. dairy farmers an opportunity to examine how big a bang they are getting for their checkoff dollars as the primary funders of USDEC.
