USDEC Technical Feed Seminar

October 29–31, 2019

Beijing and Nanchang, China

group of piglets

Dear members, we hope you’ll be joining USDEC in China for a week focused on improving pig health and performance through the optimal use of dairy ingredients!

USDEC will host two full-day seminars to present the latest scientific findings demonstrating the advantages of permeate when formulating optimal swine nursery diets. The events will be October 29 in Beijing and October 31, 2019 in Nanchang, China.

Our speakers are experts in the field from both China and the USA. They will deliver the scientific evidence and interpretation as it applies to the Chinese pig-feed sector. Dr. Qingping Liu, Director of Asia, International Ingredient Corporation, will provide a history of dairy ingredient feeding by the swine industry in China. Dr. Bob Thaler, Extension Swine Specialist, South Dakota State University, will review permeate research (including the recent ADPI trials) to optimize nursery pig growth and gut health. Dr. Defa Li, member of China Academy of Technology and Science and Professor (and former Dean) of China Agriculture University, will provide a practical presentation on what the permeate research means for maximizing piglet performance and profitability in China. Participating USDEC members will have a chance to introduce their companies and product portfolio during our program and interact with the seminar participants. The invited participants will include R&D, procurement staff as well as decision-makers from the local hog industry.

Since its first report in August 2018, African Swine Fever (ASF) has had a devastating impact on the world’s largest hog population as well as the global pork supply. We trust that the information and perspectives shared during our event will help the Chinese swine industry during its heard rebuilding efforts. We believe that increasing the inclusion rate of permeate in nursery pig diets is a cost-effective strategy to help maximize pig productivity and offers a “win-win” dairy solutions for the U.S. and China. Especially in view of the tariff exemption that will be applied to U.S. permeate for feed starting September 17, 2019.
